Lunch

Interesting piece by Erna Mahyuni...
It's another old issue that...I don't know what's the end of it.
I myself only knew that the Bahasa version of Bible used Allah to refer God, when I was studying in Labuan...
Instead of angry or feeling offended, I felt surprised...in fact, my Muslim friend who's waaay much pious than I (and of course a Sabahan) was also surprised...because Allah was in the Bible...but Alhamdulillah our faith remained :)

On first thought, there's nothing wrong if Christians want to use Allah in their Bible...after all, in Arab country the priest even greets his listeners (I don't know what's the term to use..) with Assalamualaikum (May peace be with you)...Muslim isn't the sole owner.
And Erna was right, Sabahan never make fuss of this issue...
Just make sure our faith remain...that's what matter...

But on second thought, I guess the reason why certain people especially those in West Malaysia make fuss about this issue is, minus the politicise and politic issue, it's the fear of that the young generation, who are perhaps have lack of understanding about Islam, may get confuse and their faith easily shaken...Naudhubillah (we seek refuge in Allah from evil)...
Hurmm...

But that issue is not what fascinate me...It's the openness that most Sabahans show that Ernah potrayed, that fascinate me..As well as their ability to accept each other, regardless of the differences in religion and suku as well as race...Seek no farther...it's in Sabah where we can show you the real spirit of being Malaysia...
Even a Chinese friend who just moved to Sabah admitted "Susah nak tengok kat semenanjung dalam kedai yang bukan Muslim punya kita boleh tengok yang Muslim dan bukan Muslim duduk sama-sama and makan sama macam di sini (Sabah)"... :) I was the only Sabahan that time...I smile a lot listening to his statement

Halal issue..?Yes...It's a must for us the Muslim to eat and drink halal food and drinks...but here in Sabah, the Chinese taukeh are very genius! They hired Muslims to cook... :)
Kalau kawan non muslim buat kenduri pun dia akan suruh saudara muslim dia yang masak...
Even before my nenek lelaki and nenek perempuan revert pun diorang sudah beli periuk dan kuali khas untuk kakak yang sedang belajar di maktab dan selalu balik hujung minggu di rumah nenek...they understand and respect...

And hey even my favourite Sunday treat "Fook Yuen" got Halal logo :)
So no worry... :) InsyaAllah...

Mix marriage; we have lots of it here in Sabah...It's a weird thing in here if you're a Muslim and you don't have non-muslims cousins or aunts or uncles or nephews or nieces, or vice versa... :)
So Erna is true...Sabah is Truly Malaysia...
It's quite sad though, because for the past couple of years, there are people who try developed and sparked "friction" amongs multi-racial, multi-religion Sabahans...

As a Sabahan, I am proud being one and pray to Almighty Allah may Sabah remain peace :) ...Aminn
