This morning, I read S.S Yoga's What's In A Word (June 22nd, 2009 @ The Star Online)...
I'm not going to tell you what the article is about, but what I can say is; the article did teach me the origin of certain words...
The one that really attract me is the origin of the word pilak...the term that the local people in Sabah used to refer the immigrants from Philippines (Mindanao). Sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive here...my apologise to everyone...
Previously I had no idea what did the word pilak means...only after reading the article then I know pilak is actually the name of the currency of the Suluk tribe.
But for what reason the local people of Sabah dubbed them as pilak, I have no answer for that...
